Take a good look at the St. George UT area when you plan your next golf vacation. Not only are there several great golf courses in the area but Las Vegas is just one and a half hour drive down I-15. Let’s talk about St. George first, then we will talk about the wolves.
Zion Golf, St. George, UT – a golf store that has everything golf
I love the Zion Golf store in St. George, Utah. For the past 16 years I have been friends and customer with the owners of this golf shop. From the first time I walked into this shop I was treated as family. The Hedberg family owned the store along with and their two sons John and Brad. John, the tall, good looking, California sun-tanned son was a super salesman. You can try demo clubs by playing with them before you buy. Playing on the course with four different manufactures – 7 irons really helps to find what’s fits you the best. My game certainly improved with the help from the staff and the proper clubs from Zion Golf.
Wes Butterfus, the owner now and his staff KNOW golf. Every piece of equipment that comes in the doors is well-researched in advance and you can expect to be helped with excellent advice. An in store simulator will aid in your selection of clubs. The entire staff at Zion Golf makes you feel welcome. They are not only knowledgeable about all things golf but are golfers too. Be sure to take in the fun with them during The Masters week if you are in the area.
The first “wolf” course is the Wolf Creek Golf Club and is just across the border in Mesquite, NV.
Wolf Creek Golf Club has an incredible golf course. This is a gem of a layout carved in the canyons with views and fairway layouts that are spectacular! And the greens were the best I had ever played. Our tee time was at 9:00 am and there was nobody ahead of us and nobody behind us! What a treat. I can’t wait to go back and play it again.
The second “wolf” course is the Stonewolf Golf Club in Caseyville, IL
I enjoyed playing golf with my daughter Colleen and her friends Sandra and Chris at the Stonewolf Golf Club in Caseyville Illinois. This is a challenging but fair golf course. The course is always in great shape and the food is excellent in the clubhouse. It can become very hot and humid at this course. On one of the par fours there are two HUGE fans to keep the course and players from cooking! The green is surrounded by lush vegetation and a forest of tall, thick trees. It is a Jack Nicklaus designed course and in any Jack course there are a LOT of bunkers. Especially around the greens. The Ladies League at that course was the most FUN group of women in a league that I have ever known.
It is common to see a fivesome of women golfing at Stonewolf! Not only golfing but walking the course. This group is so fast and competitive. One day two young fellows on a motorized golf car caught up to them at the first tee on the and asked if they could go ahead of them. Catch us if you can, said one of the women as they left the two guys in the dust!
Men more often than women get together with their buddies and go on golf trips. Not so the women of Caseyville! These women are always thinking up fun things to do. Four or eight of them would go to golf at Stay and Play destination near or far.
